The holiday season can be such an exciting time for your family, but let's not forget about our furry friends this year! Here are some tips to make sure your precious pets have a wonderful & safe holiday season, too!

1. SAFE SPACES: For most families, the holidays can mean we have a lot of guests coming and going! Your pets may find themselves getting stressed out with all the commotion and all the new faces, Try to create a quiet, safe space for your pets as guests are arriving & as you are entertaining. Whether that means setting up a space in a separate room or a quiet corner, you definitely want your pets to feel at home and relaxed. You can help them destress by giving them a calming bone, such as Chillax the Max CBD coated bones or giving them a calming treat like CBD Mega or Chillax.

2. PLANTS & TREES: Make sure to keep poisonous plants away from your pets or skip them altogether in your home this season. Poinsettias are toxic to both dogs and cats and can cause vomiting & irritation. Holly can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Mistletoe can create gastrointestinal issues and cardiovascular problems. And lilies can cause kidney failure in cats if ingested. Also, make sure to secure your Christmas tree so pets cannot knock it over. Clean up pine needles promptly, as they can cause gastrointestinal problems if ingested.

3. DECORATIONS: Keep shiny decorations like tinsel off of your tree. Cats can be attracted to it and easily digest the tinsel, causing gastrointestinal obstructions. Keep wires tidied up and out of the way, along with batteries. Don't leave candles unattended or within reach of your curious pets. Always extinguish them when leaving the room. Keep breakable decorations and ornaments out of paw's reach.

4. FOOD & ALCOHOL: Keep the sweet treats and table scraps away from your pets. Chocolate and xylitol are especially problematic for pets and should not be within their reach. Same goes for alcohol - keep it far away from your pets. If accidentally ingested, your pet could become ill and could go into a coma & respiratory failure. Instead, provide your pets with safe 3 ingredient Treats or Gourmet Cookies, or offer them snacks like Kongs or Yak Chews.

5. STOCKINGS & GIFTS: Skip the dyed & glued rawhide gifts you see in all the big box stores this year. In addition to being made from harmful ingredients, they can cause issues to the digestive tract, as well as intestinal blockage. Instead, gift your pets with a new plush friend (lots of suggestions here!) Or keep them entertained with a new enrichment feeder from Soda Pup. My pups love flavored food topper seasonings, which also contain vitamins, antioxidants and minerals, and 3 ingredient treats. They also make the perfect stocking stuffers!

Wishing you and your pets a happy, safe & healthy holiday season!
